Bob Schreibman, DMD Robert M. Schreibman, DMD
Chairman

Robert M. Schreibman, DMD, a retired pediatric dentist, provided oral health care services to the Glastonbury community for over 45 years. He is  the Founder of the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach and Co-Founder of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic. In addition to serving as Chairman, he is a consultant for the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic.  He also serves on the Community Advisory Committee for AmeriCares. Dr. Schreibman is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Fellow of the International College of Dentistry, and Fellow of the American College of Dentistry.

Previously, Dr. Schreibman was President of the Connecticut State Dental Association, Hartford Dental Society and the Hartford Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He was the founder of the Hartford Dental Society Smile Mobile. Dr. Schreibman served on the board of the America’s Dentists Care Foundation for 6 years. He served as a board member of the Connecticut Health Foundation and Vice-Chair of the Governance Committee.He has lectured throughout the U.S. and consulted in practice management and leadership development.

Dr. Schreibman has been Chairman of the Board since its inception.

 

Ernie Spira, DDS Ernest Spira, DDS
Vice Chairman

Ernest Spira, DDS, a retired periodontist provided oral healthcare services for over 40 years. Dr. Spira has served as Vice-Chairman of the board since its inception. He serves on both the Development and Public Relations Committees. Dr. Spira is Co-chair of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic and Facilities Lead. He has served as President of the Manchester Dental Society and has served on the board of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA), as well as the America’s Dentists Care Foundation. Dr. Spira has held teaching positions at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Saint Francis Hospital and presently teaches at Hartford Hospital. He is a member of Pierre Fauchard Academy, CSDA, American Academy of Periodontology and Fellow in the American College of Dentists.

Dr. Spira has been Vice-Chairman of the Board since its inception and serves on the Development Committee and Public Relations Committee.

 

Michael Perl, DDS Michael Perl, DDS
Secretary/Treasurer

Michael Perl, DDS, MScD, a retired dentist, taught at the UConn School of Dental Medicine and Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and practiced dentistry in West Hartford for over 40 years. He is one of the Co-Founders of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer and Co-Chair of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic.

Dr. Perl has been Secretary/Treasurer of the Board since its inception and serves on the Finance Committee and the Development Committee.

Dr. Perl serves on the boards of Connecticut Appleseed and the Kate Cultural Arts Center.

 

Brad Barrick Brad Barrick, CPA, CHBC

Brad Barrick, CPA, CHBC is an Accountant/Consultant who helps dental practices with the business side of the practice. He has been a CPA since 2003 and is now one of the owners of Medical-Dental Consultants, Inc. Prior to working with Healthcare Practices, Mr. Barrick spent time with public accounting firms Ernst & Young and Price Waterhouse Coopers, as well as IBM. He has a Master’s in Accountancy from Brigham Young University.

Mr. Barrick serves on the Development Committee and is Co-Chair of the Finance Committee. 

Mr. Barrick was appointed to the Board in 2017.

 

Jennifer Dixon John J. Conroy, DMD, MS

John J. Conroy, DMD, MS is an orthodontist with offices in Middletown, Wethersfield and South Windsor who has provided orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic specialty care in Connecticut for more than twenty years following a ten year career in the US Air Force Dental Corps. He has served as President of the Middlesex County Dental Society, and has lectured nationally and internationally on clinical and management orthodontic topics.  

Dr. Conroy currently serves on the Board of Corpus Christi School in Wethersfield, CT. He is co-lead of the Prosthetics section of the CT Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic, participating since 2009. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a member of numerous dental and orthodontic associations and study groups.  

Dr. Conroy serves on the Program Committee and the Public Relations Committee.

Dr. Conroy was appointed to the Board in 2018.  

  

Jennifer Dixon Jennifer L. Dixon

Jennifer L. Dixon is a partner at the law firm of Kainen, Escalera & McHale, P.C. where she represents management in labor and employment matters. Ms. Dixon is a member of the American Bar Association; Connecticut Bar Association; and Connecticut Asian-Pacific American Bar Association. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Dixon was associate counsel at Shawmut Bank, N.A.

Ms. Dixon serves on the Finance Committee and is Co-Chair of the Governance Committee.

Ms. Dixon was appointed to the Board in 2009.  

 

Gabriel Izraelevitz

Gabriel Izraelevitz is the Co-Owner, along with his wife LuAnn Izraelevitz, of Dental Works, LLC, a staffing agency specializing in the dental field. Mr. Izraelevitz is also a Lead Software Developer for Verizon Wireless. Prior to joining Verizon, Mr. Izraelevitz was a Principal Consultant for CA Technologies, previously known as Computer Associates. In his role at CA, Mr. Izraelevitz specialized in process management and optimization for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Izraelevitz has also worked for several software companies developing CAD-CAM software.

Mr. Izraelevitz currently serves as Post-Op Co-Lead for the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic. He has been involved in the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic since 2010.

Mr. Izraelevitz serves on the Governance and is Chair of the Development Committee.

Mr. Izraelevitz was appointed to the Board in 2017.

 

  

Jonathan Knapp, DMD Jonathan B. Knapp, DMD

Jonathan B. Knapp, DMD, is a Danbury native and a family dentist who has been providing oral health care in the Danbury/Bethel area for over 20 years. He has served in numerous leadership positions in dentistry and beyond. For many years he has been active at the Capitol in Hartford, advocating for a broad range of oral health related issues and has served as the Co-Chair of the Legislative Council of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) since 2009. At the national level, he recently completed a four year term on the Council on Dental Practice for the American Dental Association (ADA) serving as Chair in his fourth year. Dr. Knapp is very active in international standards development for dental informatics and currently oversees more than 25 separate work projects as chair of the Subcommittee on Information Exchange of the ADA’s ANSI recognized Standards Committee on Dental Informatics. He has also lectured on the development of quality measurement in oral health. Dr. Knapp is a Past President of the CSDA.

Dr. Knapp leads an a cappella singing group, Men Without Instruments, which has performed at numerous venues throughout Connecticut. He is a vocal advocate for equity for persons with disabilities and inclusive education in Connecticut’s schools.

Dr. Knapp serves on the Development Committee and Public Relations Committee.

Dr. Knapp was appointed to the Board in 2009.

 

Stanley S. Lee, DMD Stanley S. Lee, DMD

Stanley S. Lee, DMD is a partner at Drs. Padilla & Lee, P.C. in Hartford. He has been in the private practice of general dentistry for over 20 years following his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Lee is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and has served as both a member and as Exhibit Chairman for the Connecticut State Dental Association’s Annual Scientific Session Council. He participates annually in the Connecticut Mission of Mercy event, providing direct patient care on the clinic floor.

Dr. Lee has been a member of the Board since its inception and serves on the Finance Committee and Co-Chair of the Governance Committee.

 

William Nash, DMD

William Nash, DMD, is a General Dentist in Fairfield, CT. He earned his B.A. from Tufts University and his DMD from UCONN School of Dental Medicine. He has served numerous leadership positions in organized dentistry including President, Vice President, Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Governors for the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA). Dr. Nash has also serviced as Past President of the Bridgeport Dental Association and was honored with their Dentist of the Year award in 2015-16.

Dr. Nash is Co-Chair of the CSDA Strategic Planning Committee and Co-Chair of the Council on Legislation, He has served five terms as a delegate to the ADA House of Delegates. He is a fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of the Horace Wells Society.

Dr. Nash has been involved in all CTMOM Free Dental Clinics. He serves as Co-Lead of Dental Triage at the clinic. He serves on the Governance Committee and Program Committee

Dr. Nash was appointed to the Board in 2018.  

 

Eve Marie Perugini Eve Marie Perugini, Ph.D.

Eve Marie Perugini, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, practicing in Connecticut for over 15 years. She provides training and consultation to health professionals and various organizations on effective communication. Her clinical practice focuses on stress management, anxiety, depression, and medical conditions including brain injury. She completed her doctoral training at Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and the University of Connecticut. She has published research articles on hypnosis, parenting, and neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Perugini is a member of the American Psychological Association and American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team. She serves as Veteran Outreach Coordinator for the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic and has volunteered for the clinic since 2015. Dr. Perugini serves on the Public Relations Committee and is Co-Chair of the Program Committee

Dr. Perugini was appointed to the Board in 2017. 


 

Cheryl Sobieraj Wadhwa, DDS

Cheryl Sobieraj Wadhwa received her DDS degree from Columbia University. She is a general dentist and owner of West Side Dental CT, LLC in Waterbury, CT. Dr. Sobieraj has been active in the dental community for over 20 years and is currently the President of her local society. At the state level she serves on the Governance Review Committee, Continuing Education Council as well as the Leadership Qualifications Committee. Dr. Sobieraj joined the CT Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic when it came to Waterbury. She has served as a Community Volunteers Lead and Follow Up Care Lead ever since.

Dr. Sobieraj has been an avid volunteer in her local community supporting Girl Scouts, Junior Achievement, local schools and her church. She encourages her local community to volunteer on a weekly basis. She feels so strongly that her office is a certified organization authorized to distribute the President's Volunteer Service Awards.

Dr. Sobieraj serves on the Public Relations Committee and is Co-Chair of the Program Committee.

Dr. Sobieraj was appointed to the Board in 2017.

 

Bob Schreibman, DMD Jennifer Socha

Jennifer Socha is Vice President, and Healthcare Practice Specialist at TD Bank.  She has over 20 years’ experience in banking and specializes in assisting dentists and other healthcare professionals with meeting the financial goals of their practice.  

Ms. Socha joined TD Bank in 1998, as a Business Development Manager and was promoted to a SBA Relationship Manager prior to her current role.  She served on the board of the CT Women's Alliance and was an active panel member for the University of Hartford's Entrepreneurial Center.

Ms. Socha is a volunteer in her community and a council member for the Women in Leadership program at TD Bank.   

Ms. Socha serves on the Development Committee and the Public Relations Committee.

Ms. Socha was appointed to the Board in 2016.

 

Bruce J. Tandy, DMD Bruce J. Tandy, DMD

Dr. Bruce Tandy received his DMD degree from Washington University in St. Louis following 4 years at the University of Rochester. Having completed a General Practice Residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Hartford, CT, Dr. Tandy began a private group practice in Vernon and Coventry where he practiced for 38 years. He is presently retired from private practice and teaches clinical dentistry at Nova Southeastern School of Dental Medicine.

An active member of the Florida State Dental Association and American Dental Association, he has served in multiple leadership roles and is Past President of the Connecticut State Dental Association. Elected as a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists, honorary fellowships in the dental profession, he also serves on the board of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester.

Dr. Tandy is a Past President of the America’s Dentist Care Foundation and a past Co-Chair of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic. 

Dr. Tandy serves on the Program Committee and Public Relations Committee.

Dr. Tandy’s personal interests include travel, golf, wine and organized dentistry. He is married with 2 children.

 

  

Emeritus Board Members

Brian Duchan, DMD Brian S. Duchan, DMD

Brian S. Duchan, DMD, has served on the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach Board since its founding and has served as lead of the Radiology section of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic every year. As Past President of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA), he has held every officer’s position including three years as the Treasurer. Dr. Duchan served as Exhibits Chairman of the CSDA’s annual meeting for ten years, as well as numerous years as its delegate to the American Dental Association.  Dr. Duchan is Chairman of the CSDA Council on Constitution and Bylaws.

Dr. Duchan is also a member of the Connecticut Disaster Identification Response Team, as well as an emergency professional volunteer with the Westport Weston Health District. He has practiced general dentistry in Westport for forty one years.

 

Bruce J. Tandy, DMD

 

Jeffrey A. Trachtenberg

Jeffrey A. Trachtenberg is a Field Sales Representative for Henry Schein Dental, the world largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners. Previously, he was Regional Manager for Henry Schein Dental in Connecticut and Western Mass.

Mr. Trachtenberg previously served on the CFDO Board and was Co-Chair of the Development Committee.

Mr. Trachtenberg has also been a long-time volunteer for the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic, previously serving as the Central Supply Lead.

Josephine Bicknell Josephine Bicknell
Executive Director

Josephine Bicknell is the Executive Director for the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach and Director of the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic. Previously, she was the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Connecticut State Dental Association.

Prior to joining the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach and the Connecticut State Dental Association, she was an educator for the East Haven Board of Education in the Special Education Department. Ms. Bicknell began her career in the dental field as a Dental Assistant in 1972.

Ms. Bicknell serves on the Outreach Committee of her church. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Branford. She is involved in many local community outreach programs.  

   
Rose Christine Lawlor
Program Assistant

Rose Christine Lawlor is Program Assistant for the Connecticut Foundation of Dental Outreach and the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic.

Prior to joining the Connecticut Foundation of Dental Outreach, she majored in biology at the University of Bridgeport. With the love she has for medicine and helping others, she has traveled to many places outside the US to help build churches and orphanages, and was a volunteer for patient care and outreach for many years at Leeway AIDS Hospice.

Ms. Lawlor volunteers with the world missionary outreach in her local church and in her community.
