NEW BRITAIN — The Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach will host its 18th Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic (CTMOM) and is looking on Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21 for underserved individuals who cannot afford the cost of dental care.
“CTMOM is committed to improving the quality of life for all that we treat through necessary dental care. The City of New Britain is well poised to help us extend our mission to as many patients as possible,” said Dr. Laurence Levy, Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach chair.
The CTMOM Free Dental Clinic is also looking for volunteers, including dental and medical professionals, as well as community members. To learn more or sign up, visit ctmom.org. Volunteer registration is open through June 1.
“Access to important healthcare services is critical to one’s quality of life and can have a significant impact on the overall well-being of a community,” Mayor Erin Stewart said. “I am grateful to CT Foundation for Dental Outreach for bringing the CT Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic to New Britain this year, and providing essential dental care to those who may not have access to it otherwise.”
The free dental clinic will be held at New Britain High School, 110 Mill St., on a first-come, first-served basis. Over two days, about 1,100 people are expected to receive care.
The clinic will include 80 dental stations and about 800 volunteers. Services will include exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, limited root canals on front teeth and premolars, and interim partial dentures and repairs.
“We are thrilled to bring the CTMOM Free Dental Clinic to New Britain for the first time, providing essential dental care to those who need it most,” said Lisa Perry-Swain, executive director of the CFDO. “Access to dental care is vital for overall health, and through the generosity of our volunteers and partners, we are able to offer life-changing services to individuals and families in underserved communities. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, receives the care they deserve.”
