In Loving Memory of

Dr. Robert “Bob” M. Schreibman

“We’re not a charity. We’re an investment in the health of the people in this state.” – Dr. Schreibman

Dr. Schreibman founded the Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach (CFDO) after attending a Mission of Mercy Clinic in Virginia. He co-founded the Connecticut Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic (CTMOM) in 2007. He saw the service it brought to people in desperate need of care and knew he had a duty to bring that service to Connecticut. He dedicated over 15 years of his life to building and growing both the CFDO and CTMOM from humble beginnings. Through his dedicated service with CTMOM, he brought treatment to thousands of patients over the years, gifting many new smiles and restoring their oral health.

There was one thing he did during his years of service in the dental community that rises over all others: he cared. Dr. Bob cared so deeply about patients, volunteers, staff, the foundation, the clinic, and everyone that had the pleasure of being in his company both personally and professionally. He imparted that care onto those around him and shared his love generously. Whether you knew him for decades or for days, the passion Dr. Bob brought to every facet of his life was palpable and inspiring.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Bob was a highly distinguished dentist. Dr. Bob recieved his BS degree from Colorado State University and achieved his DMD from Tufts School of Dental Medicine. He continued at Boston University School of Dentistry for his Pedodontic Certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry. He also received his Master of Science in Organizational Behavior at the University of Hartford. He spent many years as a facilitator and clinical instructor at multiple renown universities across New England. He was a long-time partner at “Smiles for the Future,” a pediatric dental practice in Glastonbury. He served as a Past Attending at many Connecticut hospitals. Dr. Bob received many awards for his years of service to the dental community, including the International College of Dentists District One Distinguished Service Award.

“He was incredibly kind and jolly to everyone that walked through his door.”

“I became his friend as well as his patient.”

“He was a great friend, colleague and inspiration, always a mensch, giving more than he got.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Bob remained very active in various dental organizations. He was a member of the American Dental Association; a member and past president of the Connecticut State Dental Association; a member of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, Hartford Omega Dental Fraternity, and the International College of Dentists; one of the founding members of the America’s Dentists Care Foundation; a board member of the Connecticut Health Foundation; and a past president of the Hartford Dental Society to name a few.

“There are people who come and go into your life without making a difference, you hardly notice they’re gone. Then there is Bob Schriebman. Bob was a presence.”

“Bob is with us, with every clinic, every setup, every breakdown, every procedure performed on those who so desperately need those services.”

“Dr Bob was a great dentist and calming influence to [me] … he genuinely cared and was always kind.”

Dr. Bob is survived by his wife Andrea of 30 years and their blended family of five children and ten grandchildren. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he touched with his kindness and generosity. He led his life with love, and in his honor, we will continue his legacy of providing care for those that need us most.
