Learn about the impact Dr. Felicia Brodeur has on her community through CTMOM – and how it impacts her
Since first volunteering with the Connecticut Mission of Mercy in 2013 as a predental college student, this event has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I began by helping wherever I was needed; escorting patients, assisting volunteers, and witnessing firsthand the incredible impact this clinic has on the community. During dental school, I continued volunteering each year, gaining the opportunity to assist with procedures such as administering local anesthesia and oral surgery. As a practicing dentist since 2020, I have proudly returned every year to provide care directly to patients in need.
Connecticut Mission of Mercy provides truly vital services to individuals who might otherwise go without dental care due to financial, geographic, or personal barriers. Beyond relieving pain and restoring oral health, this event restores dignity, confidence, and hope to so many people. The gratitude expressed by patients is unforgettable, and the compassion and dedication shown by every volunteer create an atmosphere unlike anything else in healthcare.
Personally and professionally, this experience has shaped the kind of dentist and person I strive to be. It has continually reminded me why I entered this profession; to serve others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Every year I leave inspired by the generosity, teamwork, and humanity that define this event. It is an incredible privilege to be part of something that changes lives for both the patients receiving care and the providers giving it.
